Westfield Washington Schools names principal for new Midland Crossing Elementary

The Westfield Washington Schools (WWS) Board of Trustees has appointed Mary Beth Fischer as the principal of Midland Crossing Elementary, the district’s newest elementary school, set to open in August 2026. Fischer, who currently serves as the principal of Maple Glen Elementary, will officially assume her new role on July 1, 2025.

Fischer joined Westfield Washington Schools in July 2017 and has been a dedicated leader in the district for eight years. She graduated from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and later earned her master’s degree in Educational Administration from Butler University.

Her career in education spans nearly two decades. She began in Hamilton Southeastern Schools, teaching second and third grade at Durbin Elementary from 2007 to 2012. She then served five years as the assistant principal at Noble Crossing Elementary in Noblesville Schools (2012 to 2017) before becoming the principal at Maple Glen Elementary in 2017. In 2022, she was recognized as the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) District 5 Principal of the Year for outstanding leadership.

“As a proven leader and dedicated advocate for student success, Mary Beth Fischer is the ideal choice to lead Midland Crossing Elementary,” Superintendent Dr. Paul Kaiser said. “Her experience, leadership, and passion for education will create a strong foundation for our newest school, ensuring that students, staff, and families thrive in a positive learning environment.”

Reflecting on her time at Maple Glen Elementary, Fischer said, “I am deeply grateful for my time there, where the support and kindness of the staff, students, and families have meant so much to me.”

Beyond her professional achievements, Fischer is a proud Westfield resident. She lives with her husband, Marcus, and their five children. She is deeply connected to the community and committed to fostering an exceptional educational experience for all students.

As Fischer transitions into her new role, WWS will begin the search for the next principal of Maple Glen Elementary, ensuring a seamless leadership transition while maintaining the school’s tradition of excellence.
