Westfield students collect books, make blankets for foster children

Maple Glen Elementary School first-grade teacher Christie Buonanno recently did a service project with her class. They have received donations of fleece to make blankets for foster children. A family also donated enough books to go along with each blanket. Foster children often come into a home with nothing besides the clothes on their backs. This time of year, many children find themselves unexpectedly entering the care of DCS. Since there aren’t enough families to take them all in, they are forced to sleep in DCS offices. The hope is that these blankets and books can provide a little warmth and entertainment during a tough time in these kids’ lives.
