After the Westfield Lions Club had Brittany Delph, the Executive Director of Student Impact, speak at their November program night meeting, the Club’s board of directors voted to provide assistance to this worthwhile organization.

The Lions’ initial support was in the form of a $1,500 donation to Student Impact’s “G.I.R.L.S Group,” a program targeted specifically to help empower girls and develop their confidence, leadership skills, and strong self-images.

Westfield Student Impact was established in 1999 and its mission is to “build relationships through love and acceptance in a safe and consistent environment.” As part of that safe environment, students who go to Student Impact’s building, “The Rock,” are provided a meal and snack bag each day. Wanting to do more for this amazing organization, the Lions decided to look for a way to help Student Impact meet this need for resources for the meals and snack bags.

At the Lions’ business meeting on Feb. 15, the members put together 200 snack bags that were then delivered to Student Impact. The Lions Club motto is “We Serve” and the Lions Club has a long history of assisting with the youth in Westfield, including providing numerous scholarships to high school seniors each year, assisting the school nurses with eye exams for students, providing dictionaries to every third grader, and numerous other contributions.

“Student Impact shares that same passion for our Westfield students, and providing this small service is something we are proud to do,” Lion Carrie Larrison said.
