Westfield & Fishers have back-to-back battles

Southeastern’s Caroline Kelley named Player of the Game at Wednesday match

The Westfield and Fishers soccer teams played each other on back-to-back nights this week.

The boys went first, playing at the Shamrocks field on Tuesday. That game finished in a 1-1 tie. The Tigers scored their goal in the first half, with Kyle Clayton finding the back of the net. Westfield’s Oliver Smith tied the game with a second-half goal.

On Wednesday, Fishers and Westfield’s girls teams played at the Tigers’ field, with the home team winning 2-1. Freshman Elise May scored Fishers’ first goal, with senior Lilly Touhy making the assist. Junior McKinley Boland converted a penalty kick for the Tigers’ second goal.

Westfield stats were not available at press time.

Fishers’ victory was the second of the week, as the Tigers defeated Pendleton Heights 5-0 on Monday. Five different Fishers players scored one goal each: Anna Pettit, Touhy, May, Emmy Streeter and Emerson Huneck. Maddie Meier and May both had one assist.

 

The Hamilton Southeastern girls team kept its record perfect with a 4-0 win at Franklin Central on Wednesday.

The Flashes held the Royals to one goal in the first half; Tatum Coleman assisted Caroline Kelley on the score. Southeastern got going in the second half with three goals. Ayla Conn scored off a double assist from Coleman and Kelley.

Chloe Count scored the third goal by a Kelley assist, then Kelley scored on a free kick to complete the scoring; she was named HSE’s player of the game.
