On Thursday, Westfield Mayor Andy Cook and Westfield Fire Chief Marcus Reed announced that James (Jim) Roberts will become the new Fire Marshal/Division Chief for the Westfield Fire Department.
“One of the many things that makes Westfield great is the dedicated group of men and women who work around the clock to keep our community safe,” said Cook. “I am confident that Chief Roberts will only add to the spirit of excellence that already exists in our Westfield Fire Department.”
Chief Roberts joins the City of Westfield from Greenfield, where he worked for the past 26 years, the last 12 of which he spent as Fire Chief. He was instrumental in building a strong fire prevention program as well as the development of the city’s Fire Prevention Ordinance. Adding to his impressive track record, he was also involved in the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association (IFCA) and National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) in multiple capacities.
“Chief Roberts will be an excellent asset to our community and our organization,” said Westfield Fire Chief Marcus Reed. “I am looking forward to what the future holds for our organization as it continues to grow in correlation with the community.”
As Fire Marshal of the Fire Prevention Division, Chief Roberts will work closely with the city’s community development department. The division is responsible for inspection services to help prevent fires and ensure fire safety for the people who live, work and play in Westfield.
