Westfield fell to Avon Friday 59-56 in a close Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at the Orioles’ gym.
Avon led 18-10 after one quarter; Alex Romack kept the Shamrocks in it with eight points. Seth LaRavia hit two 3-pointers in the second quarter, that helped Westfield close to within 27-22 by halftime. Avon pulled further ahead in the third quarter to lead 45-35; the ‘Rocks scored 21 points in the fourth, but the Orioles were able to hang on.
Romack finished the game with 19 points, while Trey Buchanan scored 15; he had 11 in the fourth quarter, including two 3-pointers. LaRavia made three 3s.
Westfield is 2-3 in HCC play and 10-4 overall. The Shamrocks host Liberty Christian tonight.
