Westfield Education Foundation announces new legacy scholarship

The Westfield Education Foundation (WEF) has announced the legacy scholarship, “Casting Bright Futures – Carmel M. Steele Memorial Scholarship,” in support of Westfield Washington Schools.

The children of Carl M. Steele, Mike Steele and Becky Drlik, contacted WEF to create a legacy scholarship after their father passed away in 2020. The scholarship is available for a Westfield High School (WHS) junior or senior who demonstrates a financial need, is a B/C student, and is an active member of the WHS fishing club.

“Carl M. Steele was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time on a lake or ocean casting for the next ‘big fish’,” Drlik said. “We are honored to be able to have this opportunity to help a student that has an interest in the great outdoors and enjoy casting for their next ‘big fish’. Be it on a lake or in life!”

The scholarship application can be found at bit.ly/WEF2021ScholarshipApplication. Applications must be submitted by April 30. Donations can be made to the Carl M. Steele Memorial Scholarship at bit.ly/WEFLegacyFundCarlMelvinSteele.
