The Westfield City Council voted against moving forward with a proposed development from Pulte Homes at last night’s meeting. The vote was 5-2 against the new housing proposed at Wood Wind Golf Course.
The 210-acre subdivision was proposed to be built along Towne Road between 161st and 156th streets with homes ranging in price from $300,000 to $1 million.
“The City Council’s decision came after a lengthy community conversation that involved the developer, residents and city officials,” said City Council President Jim Ake. “Due to the overwhelming feedback from our community, many of us on the Council felt that moving forward with this development would not be representative of what our constituents want.”
Council members Jim Ake, Joe Edwards, Mark Keen, Chuck Lehman and Cindy Spoljaric voted against the development. Council members Steve Hoover and Robert Horkay voted in support of the proposal.
