Westfield Chamber to host Jim Merritt to discuss opioid crisis

The Westfield Chamber of Commerce announced this week that the speaker for the March 15 luncheon will be State Senator Jim Merritt.

Merritt

Merritt has represented Central Indiana since his election to the General Assembly in 1990. Merritt represents Senate District 31, which includes portions of Hamilton and Marion counties.

“When we asked our membership in December what topics they would like to hear about in 2018, the opioid crisis was a consistent answer,” stated Jack Russell, President of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce. “The Opioid Crisis effects so many different parts of not only the Westfield community but also Hamilton County. We want to make sure businesses have the tools and resources they need to help fight this issue.”

Senator Merritt has sponsored legislation and led efforts aimed at killing the opioid and heroin epidemic and helping those addicted, reducing underage drinking deaths, protecting law enforcement and more.

The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 at The Bridgewater Club, 3535 E. 161st St., Westfield. To purchase tickets, please visit westfield-chamber.org and click on the events registration button on the home screen.
