Two Hamilton County girls lacrosse teams won state championships this past weekend.
Westfield won the Class 1A state title by beating Heritage Christian 18-6 in the championship game, which was played at Hamilton Southeastern on Saturday. The Shamrocks advanced to the final with an 11-6 victory South Bend St. Joseph in the Friday semi-finals. Westfield finished its season 13-14, winning its last four games on its way to the state title.
Meanwhile, Carmel beat Brebeuf Jesuit 12-7 Saturday at HSE to win the Class 2A state title. The Greyhounds were led by three goals each from Julia Cherubini and Hannah Kim. Carmel beat Evansville North 17-10 in the semi-finals Friday, and finished its season 17-3-1. Noblesville also reached the 2A semi-finals, where it fell to Brebeuf 9-7.
Several girls lacrosse players were named to the Indiana Girls Lacrosse Association’s Academic All-State team, which was announced on the INGLA’s Facebook page. The list includes Carmel’s Caroline Ramsey and Maryrose Ramsey; Fishers’ Kelsey Bolin, Skylar Fulton and Mackenzie Miller; Guerin Catholic’s Olivia Morse, Caitlin Truffer and Zoe Rainey; Southeastern’s Allison Hendrix and Kayalrednha Sundling, and Noblesville’s Meredith Miller, Jaclyn Klinger and Erin Wilson.
