The community is invited to attend the 10th annual Heights Area Pastors Community Prayer Breakfast for worship and song at 7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 at Hamilton Heights Middle School Café. This annual pre-school event is hosted by the Heights’ Area Pastors in conjunction with Hamilton Heights School Corporation.
This year’s speakers are Sterling Weatherford and Lydia (Landwehr) Weatherford. They will share their journey of faith, hope, and commitment. The Weatherfords grew up in Cicero and graduated from Hamilton Heights in 2017. They began dating during their sophomore year. After a six-year courtship they were married in March of this year in Jacksonville, Fla. They live in Chicago, Ill.
In high school, Lydia participated in Business Professionals of America (BPA) and student government, becoming Valedictorian and Student Body President her senior year. Sterling played basketball and football and finished in the top 10 percent of his class. They were baptized at Cicero Christian Church by Pastor Adam Colter the summer before attending Miami University of Ohio.
Lydia pursued a double major in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, while Sterling juggled his Mechanical Engineering degree with the demands of football. In 2022, Sterling signed with the Indianapolis Colts where he had his first NFL interception and led the team in tackles during the preseason. Minutes before final rosters were due, Sterling was cut, only to be picked up by the Chicago Bears the next morning. He spent his first NFL season with the Bears. He has now been picked up by the Los Angeles Rams, signing on Wednesday.
A light breakfast will be served with the program beginning at 7:30 a.m. Music will be provided by the Cicero United Family Wesleyan Church with Pastor Allen Gross. Guests are encouraged to bring Capri Suns and individual-sized juice bottles to donate to the Hamilton Heights Elementary School’s Weekend Feeding Program.
