Watch the roads, not the skies

Residents encouraged to find alternate routes & allow for extra travel time

As Hamilton County prepares for the total solar eclipse and the thousands of visitors it’s expected to draw, its cities are reminding residents and visitors of important road closures and construction projects that will affect traffic on Monday, April 8.

Hamilton County

The Hamilton County Highway Department will have Allisonville Road closed between 146th Street and Kensington Drive, as well as between 146th Street and Helmsley Court, as part of an ongoing effort to convert the intersection into a grade-separated interchange.

Carmel

The City of Carmel will have the roads surrounding Civic Square closed on April 8 to better accommodate crowds attending the planned event.

Fishers

The City of Fishers will provide limited local access to Cumberland Road between 96th Street and Promise Road on April 8 to keep a clear thoroughfare for public safety. East-west roadways at Cumberland Road will have soft closures and allow local access only.

Fishers Parks locations will have pedestrian access only. No vehicular traffic will be permitted.

The Hamilton County Highway Department will have 106th Street closed between Cumberland Road and Hamilton Pass due to a bridge replacement at 106th Street over Mud Creek.

Noblesville

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will have State Road 32 closed at 16th Street as crews replace pavement and address drainage issues.

Westfield

Citizens Energy Group will have a small section of Oak Road closed between 161st and 151st streets.

“Some of these projects may lead to increased traffic congestion and delays, particularly on alternate routes and surrounding roadways,” Hamilton County Communications Director Tammy Sander said. “We encourage residents to be aware of potential traffic hazards, plan their travel accordingly, and allow extra time to get where they’re going.”
