Today from 4 to 7 p.m., the annual Carmel Electric Vehicle (EV) Ride and Drive will be held as part of the National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) at the Indiana Design Center at 200 S. Range Line Road.
In addition to EVs from 12 different local dealerships, there will also be electric bikes from three local bicycle shops and electric motorcycles. Visitors will be able to do test drives and engage with current EV owners displaying their vehicles and answering questions regarding costs to charge, cost to maintain, where to charge, and other important information.
“Carmel is proud to be a leader among cities in the number of electric vehicle owners and charging stations,” Mayor Jim Brainard said. “We have worked hard to encourage this transition, which will be better for the environment. With more than 100 chargers in the city, including a Tesla Supercharger Station and a bank of Electrify America fast chargers, owning an electric vehicle is becoming much easier.”
This event is brought to you by the City of Carmel in partnership with the Greater Indiana Clean Cities, Hoosier Electric Vehicle Association, Carmel Green Initiative, AAA, Solar United Neighbors, Indiana Design Center, and Knozone.
NDEW is presented by national organizers Plug In America, the Electric Auto Association, the Sierra Club and EVHybridNoire. Nissan is the exclusive automotive sponsor and Wells Fargo is the exclusive banking sponsor of NDEW 2023.
