Creating audio or video content to promote your business takes a big investment. You need time, equipment and expertise. For small companies, that’s a lot to ask. Thanks to a new studio inside Launch Fishers, now all you need is time.

Businesses throughout Indiana can use the new podcast studio at no cost, thanks to a lot or work from the Launch Fishers team and a grant from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). The studio was one of only 16 projects selected for funding through IEDC’s Community Collaboration Fund.

According to Launch Fishers Executive Director David Bolling, the studio has two separate footprints: one for audio only and one for video work.

On the audio-only side, there is a studio set up for up to four people.

“We wanted it to be user friendly, plug and play if you will,” Bolling said. “We don’t want to get into the back end of thinking about the hosting platform for your podcast. You can come right in, just turn on the microphones and the equipment. We have storage here for you and just get ready to speak and do your podcast. Or you can bring your laptop in, record directly to the laptop, and then take that away and post-process and put it on whatever platform you’re using.”

For video or still photography for product promotion, there is another space available.

“The other footprint outside is a longer area, a deeper space,” Bolling said. “It would be good if you want to do product demos and showcasing those, or maybe some short form video recording that’s going to go into social media. That’s more for one or two people talking back and forth on video. We’ve set these out as two separate and distinct footprints in the facility.”

While Launch Fishers is not currently offering post-production services, Bolling did say that is something they may offer later. For now, he and his team would be happy to help anyone who needs post-production processing to find one of their partners in the community who has those skills. What they are currently offering is free use of a professional studio.

“We’ve got it set up as a standardized lighting, photo capture, all the traditional setups,” Bolling said. “We’ve got it set up to what we think is the best look and feel. We have it set right now as a black backdrop. You can also do greenscreen for chromakeying or white [for product showcasing].”

While the space is available for any business owner in the state, they are focusing businesses on Blackford, Boone, Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Jay, Madison, Marion, and Randolph counties that would benefit from some free studio time to help them grow.

You can learn more about the studio, including a full list of all audio and video equipment available at launchfishers.com/studio.

You can book time in the studio online at pgi.formstack.com/forms/studiobooking.

“In that form, then we’ll give a calendar, and on that calendar, it will showcase available times that they can slot themselves in,” Bolling said. “Then once they submit on that calendar, that will send an email over to our team that someone has registered to be in the space. Our time slots, and then we’ll reach back out to them.”

You will be offered both training and the opportunity to come see the space before the studio for the first time.
