Walter Kenneth Hinrichs, 90, Indianapolis, went home to God on the afternoon of Friday, December 18, 2020 at his home. He was born on October 19, 1930 to Arthur William and Edith Theresa (Johnson) Hinrichs in Chicago, Ill.
Walter earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Albion College in Michigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. Walter worked as a salesman of analytical instrumentation, and retired from Hewlett Packard in sales management. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville, and in previous Presbyterian churches where he was member, served as a deacon and volunteered in many activities. He enjoyed golfing and collecting coins. If you asked Walter, his two favorite subjects were his wife, Margarete, and his time of service in the Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana Lynn (Kendell) Roberts; son, Paul Richard (PJ) Hinrichs; granddaughter, Chelsea Marie (Jacob) Curtis; great-grandson, Jacob Curtis II; sister, Vera Jean Allen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Margarete Hinrichs, in 2017; and his grandson, Jacob Walter Hinrichs, in 2005.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. He will be interred at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Ind.
