Walter J. Gerber, 90, Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Heritage Woods of Noblesville. He was born on July 3, 1932, to Floyd and Edith (Gibbs) Gerber in Noblesville.
Jay proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for New York Central, Penn Central, and ConRail holding numerous positions throughout his 25-year career before retirement. Jay had a great love for flying his Cherokee Piper plane. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and western movies.
Jay is survived by his children, Randy (Debbie) Gerber, Greg (Cheryl) Gerber, Cyndi (Rob) Lattimer, Wally (Ann) Gerber, and Janice Wills; brother, James Gerber; 11 grandchildren, Matt Gerber, Brad Gerber, Ryan Gerber, Andy Gerber, Kylie Roberts, Kendre Abshier, Eric Gerber, Kelly Stetzel, Kyle Roberts, Jake Gerber, and Nick Gerber; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Gerber; granddaughter, Randi Sue Gerber; and his siblings, Joe Gerber, Josphine Pryor, Jeanette Murphy, Joan Rich, and Juanita Nosler.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
