The Sheridan volleyball team picked up two sweeps this week.
On Monday, the Blackhawks took care of Tri-Central 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 in a Hoosier Heartland Conference match. The victory clinched a second-place finish for Sheridan in the conference, its highest finish in the HHC.
Trinity Parkin led the offense with nine kills, while Kenzie Garner hit seven. Lainey Mendenhall had four kills and Amiyah Doss and Adria Jump both put down three kills. Nova Cross served five aces, followed by Jump and Parkin with four each. Garner hit two aces, while Meredith Krupp, Mendenhall and Eva Todd all hit one. Jump dished out 20 assists.
On defense, Cross led the way with eight digs, while Ali Pickard collected five. Krupp and Todd both made three digs, with Garner, Beth Adams and Jump all getting two. Garner had both one solo block and one block assist, with Cross, Parkin and Adams all making one block assist.
Sheridan won its final home match of the season by beating North Montgomery on Wednesday, 25-13, 25-18, 25-19. It was the Blackhawks’ Teacher Appreciation Night, where each player honored a teacher who has made a positive impact on their academic career.
Garner blasted 12 kills, while Mendenhall hit 10 kills. Parkin put down seven kills, followed by Cross with six, Jump with four and Adams with two. Garner served four aces, Jump hit two aces, and Krupp and Parkin each served one. Jump handed out 25 assists while Garner had five.
Garner made 14 digs on defense, followed by Jump with 10, Krupp with nine and Parkin and Cross with seven each. Garner made two solo blocks and had one assist, while Parkin, Jump and Cross all had one block assist.
Sheridan is 15-9 and finishes the regular season Saturday at the Hoosier Heartland Conference tournament, which takes place at Clinton Prairie.
