The Sheridan volleyball team got a big win Wednesday, sweeping International 25-11, 25-17, 25-13 at Larry Hobbs Hall.
The Blackhawks had strong serving from Nova Cross (nine aces) and Payton Warren (eight aces); the two combined for 27 points on their serves. On offense, Senne IJzer hit a season-high eight kills, with Shelby Eaton adding four and Cross putting down three. Cross and Eaton both had one block assist.
Cross also handed out 11 assists, while Jacquellynne Bates dished out four. Cross collected 10 digs, followed by Bates with five and IJzer and Warren with three each.
Sheridan plays its next match Tuesday at Herron.

Hamilton Southeastern swept past Lawrence North 25-13, 25-15, 25-9 in a Tuesday home match.
Avery Hobson led the Royals’ offense with 10 kills, followed by Lauren Harden with eight, Tiffany Snook with seven, Lindsey Mangelson with six and Bre Goss and Madi Evett with four each.
“The Royals had an extremely balanced attack offensively,” said Southeastern coach Jason Young.
Macy Hinshaw dished out 26 assists, while Ava Hunter handed out seven.
The Royals are 3-1 and travel to Brownsburg tonight to play their first Hoosier Crossroads Conference match of the season.

Carmel fell to Yorktown Wednesday in four sets, 25-15, 25-9, 21-25, 25-20.
Emily Waddell had 12 kills for the Greyhounds, followed by Lauren Evans with 10, Jessica Pickett with three and Kiah Jackson with two. Jackson led the blocking with three, while Waddell and Pickett each made one block.
Emerson Evans dished out 33 assists. Lauren Evans led the defense with 21 digs, followed by Lauren Dossey with 18, Peyton Ulrey with 14, Emerson Evans with 12 and Avery Carroll with 11. Carroll and Dossey both served two aces and Lauren Evans had one ace.
Carmel plays its next match Tuesday at Center Grove.

Westfield also dropped a four-set match, falling to Cathedral 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-19.
Chloe Sutake hit 13 kills, while Emma Dodson spiked 11 kills. Sutake also made two blocks. Mallory Weber had 33 digs. Lilly Stanton handed out 33 assists.
The Shamrocks go back on the road tonight, traveling to Franklin Central for their HCC opener.

Hamilton Heights dropped a hard-fought match Wednesday at New Palestine, 26-24, 25-17, 25-16.
Kennedy Cherry played well on defense with several digs and setter Callie Thomas persevered the entire match, hustling to set up the Huskies’ offense.
Heights hosts Northwestern tonight.
