It seems as if the Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers teams can’t stay away from each other in the sectional.
Volleyball is the latest sport to have a Mudsock meeting in the first round of the big school sectional, it was revealed when the IHSAA announced sectional pairings Monday evening. This one is Class 4A Sectional 8 at Noblesville, where the No. 7 Tigers will play the No. 8 Royals in the opener on Thursday, Oct. 12.
That match is scheduled for 6 p.m., with a match between another set of old rivals, Carmel and Noblesville, following. Thursday winners will play each other in the first semi-final on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 14, with Westfield and Anderson playing the other semi-final.
In Class 3A pairings, Hamilton Heights will play in Sectional 24 at Delta. The Huskies will take on No. 5 Wapahani in the first Thursday, Oct. 12 match. This sectional is notable for having three ranked teams: No. 1 New Castle plays the second Thursday match against Muncie Burris, while the host and No. 3 Eagles will take on the winner of a Tuesday, Oct. 10 first-round match between Jay County and Blackford in the first Saturday, Oct. 14 semi-final.
Guerin Catholic will travel to Cardinal Ritter to play in Sectional 27. The Golden Eagles got the bye in this seven-team sectional and will play the winner of Tuesday’s Northwest-Crispus Attucks match in the first semi-final on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Sheridan will compete in Class 2A Sectional 40 at Alexandria. The Blackhawks take on Elwood in a first-round match Thursday, Oct. 12. That match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., following a match between Frankton and the host, No. 3-ranked Tigers.
University will play at Class 1A Sectional 58 at Indiana School for the Deaf. The Trailblazers will play host ISD in the first semi-final Saturday, Oct. 14 in this five-team sectional.
