The Hamilton Southeastern volleyball team won the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship on Monday after sweeping Westfield 25-13, 25-17, 25-22.
“Winning the HCC is not an easy task,” said Royals coach Jason Young. “Really proud of this group of kids to be able to win this conference three straight years.”
Lauren Harden led the Southeastern offense with 14 kills, while Avery Hobson hit 10 kills and Lovie Wallace had nine up the middle. Emily Weber handed out 16 assists to go with five kills and Olivia Phillips dished out 11 assists and hit two kills.
On defense, Jordan Englemann collected 17 digs and Carly Mills had 16 digs. The win improved the Royals to 6-0 in the HCC and 19-0 overall.
Westfield swept Hamilton Heights on Tuesday, 25-18, 25-19, 25-23.
Kelsey Smith handed out 16 assists for the Huskies, while Lexi Hayden hit seven kills. Jordan Fryman made four solo blocks.
Sheridan came from behind to score a Hoosier Heartland Conference victory over Tri-Central on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks won in five sets, 19-25, 15-25, 27-25, 28-26, 15-13. Taylor Bates had a strong all-around game with 32 assists, eight kills, five digs, three aces and two block assists.
Emma Went collected 11 digs to go with seven kills and two aces. Allie Delphi spiked 19 kills, along with 11 digs and one ace. Kaiden Wilson added seven kills, two solo blocks and one block assist.
Lillie Dickerson hit four kills and made two block assists. Also on defense, Jacquellynne Bates collected 11 digs, Abbi Clouser had seven digs, Kayla Beahrs made three digs and Payton Warren had one solo block.
The Sheridan junior varsity lost 25-23, 25-18. Hailey Curry served four aces, while Claudia Headlee and Valerie Adams both hit three. Beahrs had four digs, with Headlee and Makaylee Wilson both collecting three. Kendra Blankenship hit four kills and Lilly Chesney dished out two assists.
The Blackhawks host North Montgomery tonight with a 6 p.m. JV start.
Fishers dropped a close three-set match to Yorktown 31-29, 25-22, 25-23 Tuesday at the Tiger Den.
Fishers had a solid blocking night, with seniors Mikayla Christiansen and Grace Dunnuck both making six blocks, while sophomore Ava Vickers had five. On offense, Camryn Howarth hit 12 kills, followed by Jada Allen with 11 and Christiansen with nine.
“I loved what our front row did tonight,” said Tigers coach Steven Peek. “To be the best in the state, you have to have a presence at the net. Our front row was aggressive, and our passers did a great job getting our setters in system to run the offense.”
Haworth and Margo Hernandez both handed out 19 assists. On defense, Samantha Perdue collected 18 digs, followed by Olivia Lux with 14, Haworth with 13 and Hernandez with 12.
“We would certainly liked to have closed better tonight,” said Peek. “We will need that skill for the postseason, of course, but I am really proud of the players’ ability to adjust, compete, and just generally play at the highest level in the state tonight.”
Fishers will finish the regular season Thursday at Westfield.
