Volleyball: Noblesville & Fishers claim victory in HCC matches

Noblesville beat Franklin Central in a four-set Hoosier Crossroads Conference match on Thursday, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-23 at the Flashes’ gym.

The Millers improved to 3-2 in conference play and 16-4 overall, and host Heritage Christian on Tuesday for the Miller Volleyball Alumni match.

Fishers was also victorious in an HCC match on Thursday, sweeping Avon 25-20, 25-18, 25-20.

The Tigers improved to 4-2 in the conference and 14-6 overall. Fishers hosts Mount Vernon Tuesday.

Guerin Catholic fell in a tough five-setter to Park Tudor Thursday at the Eagles Nest.

The set scores were 25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25, 15-10. Ella Murphy hit 20 kills for the Golden Eagles, while Claire Castor put down 15 kills. Castor also served four aces, followed by three each for Murphy, Val Loso and Ally Downey. Castor handed out 21 assists, while Hailey Lytle dished out 19 assists.

Murphy collected 17 digs on defense. Leah Sheng made two blocks.

Guerin Catholic is 8-13 and plays Saturday morning at Penn.

Sheridan dropped a straight-set match at Lapel on Thursday, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23.

Senne IJzer hit 11 kills for the Blackhawks, followed by Lexi Lewin with four and Shelby Eaton with three. Nova Cross handed out 15 assists, while Meredith Krupp served two aces.

On defense, IJzer collected 13 digs, followed by Jacquellynne Bates with 12, Cross with 10, Payton Warren with eight and Krupp with seven.

Sheridan is 5-15 and hosts Rossville on Tuesday in a Hoosier Heartland Conference match.

Hamilton Heights lost a straight-set match at Pendleton Heights on Thursday, 25-13, 25-16, 25-16.

Setter Callie Thomas had a strong game for the Huskies, who dropped to 12-8 and play at Scecina on Monday.

University fell to Covenant Christian in straight sets on Thursday, 25-7, 25-6, 25-7.

Freshman libero Quinlan Litke had a good performance at libero for the Trailblazers, who are 5-6 and play Saturday morning at International.
