Volleyball: Huskies beat Sheridan, Millers improve to 2-0

In an all-county volleyball match, Hamilton Heights beat Sheridan 25-9, 25-13, 25-17 Thursday at Hobbs Gymnasium.
Ana Collar had a solid all-around game for the Huskies, with seven kills, nine assists, two digs and two aces. Hannah Crist hit eight kills and made five digs. Emma Knowles handed out 14 assists. Kylie Rose served five aces and made eight digs.
Freshman Allie Delph hit five kills for the Blackhawks and also served two aces. Maddi Christy also hit two aces and made two blocks, in addition to handing out eight assists. Lauren Railer made 18 digs.
Heights also won the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-8.
On Tuesday, Sheridan opened its season with a match against Clinton Central, falling 26-24, 25-18, 11-25, 25-19. Delph hit seven kills, with Amanda Perry serving three aces. Christy dished out 12 assists and had two blocks.

Noblesville beat Bishop Chatard in a Thursday four-set match, 25-11, 29-27, 23-25, 25-14.
Lexie Almodovar dominated the offense with 21 kills; she also had six digs and two aces. Maddie Hine handed out 34 assists, made 11 digs and served four aces. Lexie Bowler helped out with six kills and three blocks, with Abbey Brown making 11 digs. Kayla Thompson served eight aces.
The Millers are now 2-0 for the season.

Westfield picked up its first win of the season Thursday, beating Kokomo in straight sets, 25-16, 25-9, 25-8.
The Shamrocks were led by Claire Hindman with eight digs, Hillary Mantel with six kills and three blocks, and Bailey Mendler with four aces. Caroline Sinicki had 16 assists.
