The Carmel volleyball team won its Metropolitan Conference opener on Tuesday, sweeping past Center Grove 25-16, 25-16, 25-22.
Lauren Evans had an outstanding game with 16 kills, five digs and three aces. Caroline Yuska added seven kills and two blocks. Emerson Evans and Lauren Dossey both collected 12 digs, with Evans serving three aces and Lauren Dossey serving one.
The Greyhounds are 6-1 and host Lawrence Central tonight in another MIC match.
Sheridan dropped a hard-fought, five set match to Herron Tuesday at Hobbs Gymnasium.
The match scores were 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-12, 15-7. Taylor Bates led the Blackhawks with 16 digs, nine kills, five aces and five assists. Lexi Lewin added five kills, while Kenzie Garner had seven kills and four block assists. Nova Cross collected 14 digs and handed out 12 assists. Jacquellynne Bates had 11 digs and three aces.
Sheridan hosts Traders Point Christian tonight.
Hamilton Heights won a four-set Monday match, 25-16, 25-21, 27-25, 25-16.
Lexi Hayden led the Huskies’ hitting, with Kelsey Smith making several assists.
Hamilton Southeastern won two matches at its own Southeastern Showcase on Saturday.
In their first match, the Royals beat Floyd Central in four sets, 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-15. Avery Hobson hit 12 kills, Tiffany Snook had 11 down the middle and Lauren Harden added 10 kills. Brooke Elliott and Breonna Goss each made seven kills. Emily Weber added 24 assists.
In its second match, Southeastern swept Providence 25-20, 25-16, 25-18. Hobson spiked another 12 kills, while Berg had five digs and three aces. Snook made 2.5 blocks. Weber had four kills and made 11 assists, making her 1,000th assist during the match.
The Royals are 5-2 and play a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match at Avon on Thursday.
Westfield went 2-2 at the Delta Invitational on Saturday.
First, the Shamrocks beat Concordia Lutheran 25-21, 25-19. Abby Heck hit nine kills and made 2.5 blocks. Mallory Weber and Kaylee Sutcliffe each served two aces, with Weber making 10 digs. Loan Mapes dished out 20 assists.
Westfield then lost to Crown Point 25-22, 25-16. Emma Dodson hit seven kills, Weber collected 12 digs and Mapes dished out 17 assists.
The Shamrocks beat the host Eagles 25-17, 27-25. Dani Schade led the hitting with eight kills. Weber had 12 digs and Mapes handed out 25 assists.
Westfield dropped its final match of the day to Bellmont 25-16, 25-19. Heck and Schade both had six kills, while Weber made 11 digs. Mapes and Lilly Stanton each had eight assists.
The ‘Rocks are 4-5 and host Zionsville Thursday in an HCC match.
