In an all-county volleyball match, Carmel swept Hamilton Southeastern Monday 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 to improve to 2-0 for the season.
Ella Brooks and Emily Waddell each hit seven kills for the Greyhounds, with Brooks also serving four aces. Caroline Yuska made 3.5 blocks, with Waddell getting 2.5 and Brooks making two blocks.
On defense, Lauren Dossey collected 15 digs and Lauren Evans had 11 digs. Ella Bostic dished out 23 assists.
Lauren Harden led the Royals’ offense with 11 kills, with Sophie Ledbetter serving four aces. Tiffany Snook added 2.5 blocks. Ledbetter and Meghan Slaninka each made 12 digs. Macy Hinshaw and Emily Weber both dished out 10 assists.
Both teams are back in action tonight. Carmel hosts Roncalli and Southeastern plays at New Castle.
Hamilton Heights also won an all-county match, sweeping Guerin Catholic 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 Tuesday at the Huskies’ gym.
Kelsey Smith had a strong night setting for Heights, with Jordan Fryman playing solid in the front row.
The Huskies host Lebanon tonight, while the Golden Eagles play their home opener Thursday against New Palestine.
Fishers got its first win of the season Tuesday, cruising past Lawrence Central 25-6, 25-9, 25-10.
Carsen Plew and Ava Vickers both hit eight kills for the Tigers, with Plew serving four aces. Margo Hernandez handed out 23 assists.
Fishers is 1-1 and hosts McCutcheon tonight.
Noblesville opened its season on Tuesday by sweeping North Central 25-13, 25-19, 25-23 at The Mill.
The Millers go on the road for the first time tonight, playing at Mount Vernon.
Sheridan dropped its first two matches of the season early this week.
On Monday, the young Blackhawks team lost to a strong Crawfordsville squad in three sets, 25-3, 25-17, 25-6. Taylor Bates served four aces, Jacquellynne Bates led the defense with five digs and Kenzie Garner made three solo blocks. Claudia Headlee, Emma Settles, Payton Warren and Bates each hit one kill, with Bates handing out two assists.
Sheridan played Hoosier Heartland Conference rival Clinton Central on Tuesday, taking the Bulldogs to four sets before falling 23-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-22.
Headlee served three aces and helped the team score 15 points off her serve. Garner hit eight kills and had four blocks. Bates dished out seven assists and Bates collected eight digs.
The Blackhawks host Park Tudor on Thursday.
Westfield was swept by Yorktown in its home opener on Monday, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22.
The Shamrocks travel to Greenfield-Central for a match tonight.
University was swept by Traders Point Christian on Monday, 25-7, 25-8, 25-16.
The Trailblazers host Victory College Prep tonight.
