Volleyball: Blackhawks finish conference play 5-3 after beating Tri Central

The Sheridan volleyball team made some more history Monday night after beating Tri-Central in a four-set Hoosier Heartland Conference match.

The Blackhawks won 25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20. Trinity Parkin blasted a season-high 24 kills and broke the school record most kills in a season. Parkin now has 258 kills; the previous record was 244 set last season by Senne IJzer. Kenzie Garner totaled 17 kills and Nova Cross dished out a season-high 42 assists.

Meredith Krupp delivered six aces and 17 service points, while Cross had three aces and 12 service points. Garner and Claudia Headlee both had two block assists, followed by one block assist each from Cross and Shelby Eaton.

On defense, Cross collected 24 digs, with Garner getting 23. Krupp had 20 digs, Parkin 17, Headlee six and Beth Adams six.

Sheridan finished conference play 5-3 and is 14-11 overall, and plays tonight at North Montgomery.

Hamilton Heights won a four-set match at Westfield on Tuesday, 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19.

The Huskies had everyone on the team step up for the victory, which puts the team’s record at 19-6 for the season. The Shamrocks were led by Chloe Sutake with 10 kills and Lilly Tucker with 10 digs, and are 12-15 for the season.

Heights reached the final of the Hoosier Conference tournament last Saturday. The Huskies beat Rensselaer Central 25-8, 25-9 and West Lafayette 25-14, 23-25, 25-9 before falling to Benton Central 25-14, 25-23.

Heights hosts Sheridan on Thursday. Westfield plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match Thursday at Fishers.

University was swept by Indiana School for the Deaf on Monday, 25-22, 25-21, 25-15.

The Trailblazers are 9-10 and host Bethesda Christian on Thursday.
