The Great American Smoke Out (GASO) event held on Thursday was meant to engage, educate and empower youth to encourage their peers to live tobacco free.

The Westfield team hosted the scavenger hunt for the freshman health classes during their Core Time. Their theme was “Take one step, make one choice, start saying no to vaping today!”

They spoke about the VOICE Initiatives and invited students to join them in encouraging their peers to give up vaping.

Cessation resources were shared, including the new Live Vape Free program.

“I’m excited at how the scavenger hunt turned out,” said Kristin London. “The team worked hard to plan the event and the Westfield youth implemented it perfectly. These youth are really making a difference. I was impressed at how many of the students spoke up about what they learned today.”

The Hamilton County VOICE Team hopes to connect with other county schools and present their peer-to-peer presentation “Sweet Deceptions.”

The next days of action they will be working on will be Take Down Tobacco on April 1 and World No Tobacco on May 31.

If you are interested in having your school participate in VOICE activities, please fill out a presentation request at breatheeasyhamiltoncounty.com.
