Virginia S. Smith

September 4, 1922 – April 2, 2022

Virginia S. Smith, 99, Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville.

Virginia was born on September 4, 1922, to Roscoe and Lilly (Depke) Shepherd in Champaign, Ill. She enjoyed music and played the flute in her high school orchestra. Virginia was a secretary during WWII, for the base commander at the Army Air Corps Base in Boca Raton, Fla., while her husband was in the service. While raising her family she continued to work as a church secretary and then for Chicago Title. She liked traveling, especially to Hawaii, and enjoyed cruises. Virginia was an avid reader, liked to write humorous poetry and really liked to shop. She was a life-long, loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, Virginia was a very supportive mother who loved her family.

She is survived by her son, Bruce (Judy) Smith; daughter, Lisa (Ron) Hampton, daughter-in-law, Diane Smith; grandchildren, Erick, Tabatha, Travis (Jacqueline), Tyler, Gina (Chad), and Megan (Joe); and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Smith; son, Glenn Smith; and her brother, Robert Shepherd.

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m., with services from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville.
