Valorie Lynn Raines, 61, Arcadia, passed away on January 26, 2024, at Riverview Hospital at Noblesville with her family by her side.
She was born on March 23, 1962, in Indianapolis to Billy Harrington and Marie Annette (Williams) White. Her parents and a sister, Rebecca Jo White, preceded her in death.
Valorie attended Hamilton Heights Schools and graduated from Hamilton Heights High School with the Class of 1980.
She married Troy Allen Raines and began her role of homemaker. They were blessed with two daughters, Lindsey Ann Blessing of Indianapolis and Ashley Marie Crouch of Arcadia. Additional survivors include a granddaughter, Kinsley Louise Crouch; and two sisters, Pat Gray of Noblesville and Rhonda Free of Paoli, Ind.
Valorie loved her family and looked forward to their times together. But being a mamaw to Kinsley was the greatest joy of her life. Being a top-notch baker with her specialty being cinnamon rolls, those were a requested food for her to bring to their gatherings. She also loved to go fishing, especially with her sister, Pat. Her family related that she enjoyed playing cards, and she was their euchre champion. She also enjoyed having a garden and flowers. And in her later years she started bird watching and learning about birds. She loved being outdoors when warm, sunny days arrived, and leisure times would find her outside reading.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with Pastor Mark Knapp officiating. A time of visitation will be from 2 p.m. until services begin. She will be laid to rest at Cicero Cemetery at a later date.
