Two Hamilton County wrestlers competed at the U17 Freestyle World Team Trials, which took place in late April in Las Vegas.

Westfield’s Connor Maddox finished sixth in the 48-kilogram (105 pounds) division. Maddox beat Jaxsen Vestal (Altoona, Iowa) by a 10-0 technical fall in the Round of 32, then scored another 10-0 tech fall in the Round of 16 over Koan Hotema (Honolulu).

In the quarterfinals, Maddox lost to the eventual champion, Ariah Mills (Douglaston, Ga.) by a 13-2 technical fall. Maddox fell by a close decision to Cruz Gannon of Sebolt Wrestling Academy (Johnston, Iowa) in the fifth-place bout.

Fishers’ Julian Burgett wrestled in the 92-kilogram (203 pounds) division. Burgett fell in his first match to Maximus Konopka (Simsbury, Conn.) by a 10-0 technical fall.
