Two Hamilton County teams earned silver medals at the Special Olympics EKS State Fall Games, which took place last Sunday at Brebeuf Jesuit High School.
The state fall games are named in honor of Special Olympics founder, the Eunice Kennedy Shriver. The weekend is a partnership with Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, with their student athletes hosting four different sport competitions for Special Olympic athletes and partner teams. Hamilton County Dee’s Bears finished the games by placing second in Division 2, Yellow Division. The Bears won their first game 40-22, battling against the Johnson County Warriors. In the final game, the Bears played to the very last second against the Madison County Ravens. The Bears were leading with seven seconds on the clock, when the Ravens caught a last-second pass in the end zone to win the game 44-40.
Special Olympics Hamilton County Team 2, the Hamilton County Bulldogs, finished in second place in the Blue Division. The Hamilton County Bulldogs started the day playing against the Kosciusko County Panthers. The Bulldogs played a hard-fought game and pulled away with the win, 38-24.
In the medal game, the Hamilton County Bulldogs faced the Madison County Bulldogs. In the very rainy and hard-fought battle, Hamilton County fell to Madison County, 40-20.
