Tuesday baseball: Blazers beat Huskies for all-county win

The University baseball team won an all-county game 7-0 at Hamilton Heights on Tuesday.

The Trailblazers started with two runs in the third inning. Ryan Castetter doubled in Phillip Jacobs, then Cooper Cammack’s right field hit sent Castetter home.

Sterling Davis hit a two-run double in the sixth inning, scoring Owen Kingery and Beckett Suh. Caleb Stocker came in to run for Davis, and he was sent home by a Castetter single. Castetter scored after Griffin Wright reached on an error to make it 6-0.

Stocker scored University’s seventh run on an error in the seventh inning. Castetter and Suh both had two hits. Cam Rady pitched a complete game, allowing just one hit against nine strikeouts, including a strikeout of the fourth-inning side.

Dillon Pitts hit a one-out double in the seventh inning for the Huskies’ lone hit. Nick Hulen pitched 5.1 innings, striking out 12.

The Blazers are 10-8 and host Lawrence North at 5:30 p.m. today at RoundTripper Academy. Heights is 6-10 and plays Thursday at Lapel.

Westfield took care of Harrison 5-0 in a Tuesday home game.

The Shamrocks got on the board early with two runs in the first inning. Drew Law doubled to center field to score Ethan Colling, then Lincoln Hoffman singled in Law. Colling scored Jake Russell in the fourth inning with a center field hit to give Westfield a 3-0 lead.

Beck Jordan added a run in the fifth inning by getting home on a passed ball. Kasen Jessup complete the scoring in the sixth inning when he got home on another passed ball.

Colling and Russell both had two hits, with Russell hitting a double. Owen Swinford pitched two innings, striking out five.

The ‘Rocks are 12-6 and travel to Zionsville on Thursday to begin a Hoosier Crossroads Conference series.

Guerin Catholic lost a 2-1, eight-inning game Tuesday at North Central.

The Panthers scored a run in the second inning. The Golden Eagles tied the game in the fourth when Grant Beard singled in Ben Canada with a center field hit. North Central scored the winning run in the eight inning on a sacrifice fly.

Carson Kail was 3-for-3 at the plate for Guerin Catholic, including two doubles. Tate Troxell pitched six innings, throwing eight strikeouts and allowing only one hit.

The Golden Eagles are 8-8 and host Park Tudor at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Sheridan dropped a Hoosier Heartland Conference game to Rossville 10-1 on Tuesday.

The Blackhawks scored their run in the sixth inning; Chance Spencer singled in Caleb Alexander. Spencer finished the game with two hits.

Sheridan is 4-10 and hosts Carroll this afternoon for another conference game.
