Drunk driving arrest wasn’t first while serving on CPD
A trial date of Feb. 5 has been set for a Carmel police officer accused in September of drunk driving charges.

Police reports indicate Bryan Hood was initially stopped in downtown Carmel for a traffic infraction. During the stop officers suspected Hood of drinking. A blood alcohol test was performed, which revealed Hood was at nearly twice the legal limit. Officers charged Hood with Operating a Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.15 percent or More and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person.
Hood’s September arrest was not his first while serving as a Carmel police officer.
The Reporter has learned Hood was arrested for Public Intoxication, and allowed to keep his job, in 2011. It is unclear the outcome of the 2011 charge due to court records being expunged.
Hood is currently on administrative leave and continues to receive his salary, pending the outcome of his criminal trial and Carmel’s internal investigation.
