Tresa Ann (Smith) Waitt

February 11, 1931 – March 7, 2021

Tresa Ann (Smith) Waitt, 90, Sheridan, was called home on Sunday, March 7, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 11, 1931 to the late Doyle and Miriam (Kraus) Smith in Clinton County. Tresa was a graduate of Sugar Creek High School, Class of 1949.

Tresa’s love for reading led her to become a librarian; she worked at Sheridan Elementary School and the Sheridan Library; she looked forward to sharing her love for reading and learning with everyone. Tresa was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church; she looked forward to attending church on Sundays, where she would tell the children stories. She was a member of the Sheretts Club and a proud member of the Hamilton County Republican Party. Tresa and her late husband Grover loved to go square dancing and host card parties. She enjoyed hosting parties and looked forward to seeing everyone. She loved to cook and try new recipes and enjoyed going shopping especially with her family. Tresa looked forward to the holidays and loved to decorate for Christmas. She also loved to travel and looked forward to planning her trips.

Tresa is going to be greatly missed by her family, including her two daughters, Kathy (Bill) Small and Lisa (Gary) Trump. She was a loving grandmother to Andrew Dollard, Matthew (Anne) Dollard, and Ashley Santasiero. Tresa was a proud great-grandmother to Rachel Dollard, Madison Dollard, Jack Dollard, Nicholas Dollard, Arianny Peters, and Alexander Seyfried. She was a devoted sister to Dr. James L. Smith. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews. Preceding Tresa in death is her loving husband of 54 years, Grover Waitt, in 2005; and her sister, Miriam Carol Burgess.

Funeral services for Tresa will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Sheridan United Methodist Church, 207 E. 2nd St., Sheridan, where family and friends are invited to gather from 3 p.m. till the time of services. The Rev. John Meunier and The Rev. Chad Fultz will be officiating Tresa’s service.
