University’s boys dropped two games last weekend.
The Trailblazers hosted Brebeuf Jesuit last Friday at the U Center, with the Braves winning 56-40. The teams were tied at 14-14 after the first quarter, with Max McComb scoring six points for University.
Brebeuf pulled ahead in the second period, taking a 30-22 lead by halftime. The Braves led 43-34 after three quarters, Blake Gray scored six for the ‘Blazers in that period. Brebeuf made another run in the fourth quarter, outscoring University 13-6.
McComb led the Trailblazers with 10 points, while Gray scored eight.
University traveled to Mooresville last Saturday and lost a tough game 63-58 to the Pioneers. That game was also tied after the first period, at 9-9. The Pioneers led 22-18 at halftime; McComb scored 10 points for UHS in the first half, including two 3-pointers.
Mooresville led 36-31 after three quarters, then both teams poured in 27 points in the fourth period. The Pioneers were up 59-48 with 2:30 left, but the Trailblazers pulled to within 61-58 after with 37 seconds to go after Faisal Mohamud made a four-point play. But Mooresville held on for the win.
McComb totaled 17 points, scoring in each quarter. Mohamud finished with 15 points, including 11 in the fourth with two 3s. Gray and Cooper Cammack both had 10 points.
University is 2-4 and plays at the Lebanon Tournament this weekend. The ‘Blazers take on Evansville North at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the first round, then plays two games on Saturday.
