Traffic accident ends flight from fuzz for FedEx felon

At approximately 2:09 p.m. Thursday, officers from the Noblesville Police Department (NPD) responded to the area of the Speedway gas station, located at 510 Westfield Road, Noblesville, to a report of a stolen FedEx vehicle.

Based on the information provided to the Hamilton County Communications Center, officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued. Officers from NPD and the Carmel Police Department were able to apprehend the driver near the intersection of 116th Street and Keystone Avenue in Carmel after the suspect lost control of the stolen vehicle. There were no other crashes or injuries reported.

The suspect, Benjamin A. Manderfeld, 32, Indianapolis, was booked at the Hamilton County Jail on the following preliminary charges: Vehicle Theft, I.C. 35-43-4-2.5 (Level 6 Felony); Resisting Law Enforcement, I.C. 35-44.1-3-1 (Level 6 Felony); Reckless Driving, I.C. 9-21-8-52 (Class B Misdemeanor); and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, I.C. 9-26-1-1.1 (Class B Misdemeanor).

A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
