Track and field roundup: Huskies boys wins Northwestern Relays, girls tie for second

The Hamilton Heights boys track and field team won a squeaker at the Northwestern Relays on Tuesday.
The Huskies claimed the team championship by one-half point, scoring 78.5 to Maconaquah’s 78. Individually, Heights won four events: The distance medley and 4×800 relays on the track and the pole vault and shot put relays in the field.
In the girls meet, the Huskies tied for second with Maconaquah. Both teams scored 75 points, with Northwestern scoring 89 to win the meet. Heights won the distance medley and 4×800 relays.

Carmel boys beat Eagles

The Carmel boys track and field team defeated Zionsville 66-61 in a Tuesday dual meet.
Winners for the Greyhounds included Jakob Pearson in the 110 hurdles and high jump, Isaiah Baxter in the 200 dash, Cam Harless in the 1600 run, Colton Parker in the 300 hurdles and Will Anderson in the 3200 run.
Carmel’s next meet is the Metropolitan Conference meet, which is Friday at Warren Central.

Westfield girls track runs well on Senior Night

The Westfield girls track and field team celebrated its Senior Night on Tuesday during its dual meet with Fishers. The Tigers won 81-51.
Senior captains Carly Bogdajewicz and Gabrielle Dillick led the charge along with senior points leader Sydney Spears. Spears competed in the 200 and 400 dashes and long jump, placing first in the 400 (1:00.32) and the long jump (17-3.75). Dillick took the 800 run with a time of 2:23.81. Bogdajewicz ran a 12:00.95 for a first-place finish in the 3200 run.
The Shamrocks will return to action Friday in the Zionsville Invitational.
