The COVID-19 pandemic canceled the IHSAA spring sports season, but the coaches of those sports are still able to honor their athletes.
The Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association released its Academic All-State team for girls tennis this week, and the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches did the same for girls and boys track and field. As expected, many Hamilton County athletes are on those lists.
Five girls tennis players made the Academic All-State team, including three from Hamilton Southeastern: Adalyn De Witt, Audrey De Witt and Nicole Hite. Also making the team are Guerin Catholic’s Evelyn Cacchillo and Hamilton Heights’ Caitlin Hartwick.
The IHSTeCA has a set criteria for making the Academic All-State team, including a minimum grade-point average of 3.8, and a minimum SAT score of 1280 or ACT score of 27. Athletes must be seniors.
Meanwhile, the following girls track and field athletes were named to the IATCCC’s Academic All-State First Team:
Fishers: Evelyn Butler, Arianna Kelley, Sarah Reddan, Johanna Strueder, Brynn Urban, Mia Yates, Corinne Yorkman.
Guerin Catholic: Alyssa Chang, Maghan Gallagher Anna Hallett, Rose McIntyre, Fernanda Rios-Escobosa, Grace Vlasak.
Hamilton Southeastern: Anna Darling, Katie Edwards, Kinsey Ewing, Emily Jean-Baptiste, Ellie Johnson, Jenna McLean, Lilly Patrick, Brooke Ratliff, Brianna Wright.
Noblesville: Brynna Eaton, Anna Hazelrigg, Charis Siefert.
Westfield: Ashley Baldwin, Sydney Clifford, Kyla Curtis, Sophie Porter.
