Two kinds of history were made at the Mudsock track and field meet, which took place Friday night at Hamilton Southeastern.
The Fishers boys track team won their competition, marking the first time the Tigers boys have ever claimed the Mudsock trophy. With that victory, it also means that Fishers won the overall Mudsock competition for the 2017-18 school year.
The Tigers scored 69 points to the Royals’ 63. Fishers won eight events, including two relays, the 4×800 and 4×400. The Tigers swept the throwing events, with Luke Martin taking the shot put and Hayden Tobias winning the discus.
“We had a fantastic meet,” said Fishers coach Nathan Warnecke. “It was just a high-quality meet overall.”
Southeastern also won eight events, including a double win from Noah Malone in the 100 and 200 dashes.
In the girls meet, the Royals won 90-42. Southeastern took 12 first place in 12 events, with Mia Mackenzie winning three of them: the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the long jump. Camille Christopher took the 100 and 200 dashes, and Kennedy Drish dominated the pole vault with a leap of 12 feet, 8.25 inches. Southeastern also swept all three relays.
