The Carmel boys track and field team won the Metropolitan Conference meet, which took place Friday night at Pike.
The Greyhounds scored 162 points, well ahead of Center Grove’s 123. Carmel won eight of 16 events, including two double winners. Zachary Cox finished first in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, while Kole Mathison was victorious in the 1600 run and 3200 run; Mathison and Jacob Fisher went 1-2 in the 3200.
Owen Schafer picked up a win in the 400 dash, Seth Hutchison was first in the pole vault and Nolan Ring took the discus. Schafer, Colton Parker, Thomas Maurer and Cox teamed up to win the 4×400 relay.
The Carmel girls team finished second to Center Grove, with the Trojans scoring 142 points and the Greyhounds 115. Annie Christie won three events for Carmel, pacing the 1600 and 3200 runs. Christie started the meet by joining Ellie Marsella, Jasmine Klopstad and Abbey Grogan to win the 4×800 relay.

The Westfield track and field teams competed at the Zionsville Invitational on Friday.
The Shamrocks girls team placed fourth as a team and won two individual events. Princess Campbell placed first in the 100 dash and Sydney Black triumphed in the long jump.
Westfield’s boys team placed fifth as a team, winning the 4×800 relay. Four Shamrocks athletes finished third in individual events: Joseph Springborn in the 1600 run, Kai Connor in the 800 run, Jacob Beene in the 3200 run and Matthew Rops in the high jump.
