Fishers has the advantage of closing out the regular season with three of its last four games at home before the Class 4A Sectional 8 tournament at Noblesville in a few weeks.
The Tigers tangled with another tough opponent last night and were able to come out victorious, holding off the visiting No. 7 Cathedral Irish, 56-51.
Balanced scoring got Fishers started in the first with a 19-14 lead through one quarter.
The two showed why their rankings mean something. An 11-11 second kept the Irish within striking distance, but Fishers still led by five at halftime, 30-25.
Matching scores again in the third (15-15), the Tigers and Irish would still be separated by five 45-40 through three.
For the third quarter in a row the two tied in the quarter (11-11) and that would still be enough to fend off the Irish, giving Fishers a five-point home win over Cathedral.
Three Tigers reached double-figures in a pretty balanced offensive attack.
Keenan Garner paced Fishers with a team-high 14. Jason Gardner Jr. was steady with 11 and right behind with 10 was JonAnthony Hall. Millen McCartney also added nine.
Fishers (19-1) gets just a couple days rest before welcoming in No. 2 Lawrence North (18-1) on Tuesday.
