On Dec. 1, the Indiana Coalition for Growing and Suburban Schools announced that Anthony Jay Cook accepted the position of Executive Director.

The focus of this newly created position is to identify, clarify, and address and advocate for the interests of the growing and suburban schools (currently 24 school corporations) as chief spokesperson to the legislature. The position will also foster relationships and promote cooperation with other agencies, universities, chambers of commerce, and the Indiana Department of Education.

Mr. Cook will create an annual strategic plan, develop organizational goals of the Coalition, provide positional statements on behalf of the coalition with topical information, and research supporting data.

Tony Cook was a 42-year educator, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent, with 37 of those years as an administrator. Following retirement as superintendent of Hamilton Heights School Corporation, he served in the Indiana General Assembly from 2014 to 2022 representing portions of six counties, including northern Hamilton County and Westfield, Sheridan, Arcadia, Cicero, and White River Township. He retired at that time and now works as an advisor to the Commissioner of the IHSAA.
