On Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Perry Meridian JV Duals, Hamilton Southeastern sophomore wrestler Harrison Rich suffered a severe C5 and C6 spinal cord injury. He is currently at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis and is waiting to be transferred to Chicago to continue his rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
In speaking with the family, Rich continues to stay positive and says he is looking forward to attacking his rehabilitation. Those of you that have met him know he is very “proud to be a Hamilton Southeastern Royal.”
At tonight’s HSE vs. Carmel JV/Varsity wrestling match, the crowd will be asked to support the Rich family. Cash donations will be accepted, along with one-time donation to the Royals Varsity Club in care of Harrison Rich. The HSE wrestling program will purchase gift cards for the family to help offset costs as they travel back and forth to Chicago to be with Harrison during his time at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. JV wrestlers will walk through the stands with Riley Children’s buckets. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
If you won’t be at tonight’s match but want to help, a GoFundMe page has been set up for the Rich family.
Please keep Harrison and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he works through his rehabilitation. Keep up to date on Harrison’s progress on Facebook.
