The City of Tipton has announced that, starting this year, a dedicated grant writer will be on retainer to help the city secure funding for high-impact projects. This strategic move reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing quality of life and continuing its momentum on community development initiatives.

The grant writer will focus on targeting opportunities specific to baseball, parks, public safety, infrastructure, arts, community development, and other transformational projects. With a list of over two dozen grants already identified for 2025, the city is poised to unlock critical funding to support its ambitious vision for growth.

Schmicker

“Having a grant writer on board is a game-changer for Tipton,” Mayor Kegan Schmicker said. “This is something that has been discussed in the community for several years, and we’re proud to take this proactive step. By strategically pursuing grant funding, we can amplify our ability to deliver projects that matter most to our residents.”

This initiative directly supports five of the six strategic priorities outlined in Tipton’s newly established strategic vision:

  • Building a Leadership Team – Strengthening the city’s capacity to secure external funding and manage key projects effectively.
  • Invest and Create a Vibrant Arts Ecosystem – Identifying grant opportunities to enhance arts programming and cultural infrastructure.
  • Pursue Creative Economic Development – Leveraging grant funding to drive investment and growth in the community.
  • Support Sustainable Public Safety Strategies – Seeking funding to improve resources and services for emergency response and public safety.
  • Provide High-Quality Infrastructure – Enhancing roads, utilities, and other essential infrastructure through targeted grant applications.

The decision to secure a grant writer aligns with Tipton’s broader goals of ensuring fiscal responsibility and leveraging outside funding sources to complement local resources. The city has a proven track record of success with grant applications, and this move is expected to increase both the volume and competitiveness of Tipton’s grant submissions.

“We believe this investment will have a lasting impact,” Mayor Schmicker said. “By bringing in professional expertise, we can better position Tipton to achieve its objectives across diverse areas that benefit our community.”

Residents can look forward to seeing these efforts take shape in the form of enhanced parks and recreation facilities, improved public safety resources, revitalized infrastructure, and new opportunities in the arts and community development.
