Fishers picked up its fifth straight victory on Friday with a 59-44 win at Pendleton Heights.
The Class 4A No. 2 Tigers slowly built a lead in the first half, going up 15-12 in the first quarter and 32-23 at halftime. Jeffrey Simmons got things going with nine points in the first period, then added four more in the second quarter for 13 first-half points. Fishers’ defense took over in the third quarter, allowing the Arabians only five points. Meanwhile, Charlie Smith scored seven for the Tigers and Sean Millsaps threw in two 3-pointers in that quarter, and Fishers held a 47-28 lead at the end of the period.
Simmons finished the game with 18 points, while Smith and Millsaps each added 13 points. Millsaps made three 3-pointers.
The Tigers are 17-2 and host Westfield tonight in a makeup Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. Fishers is 5-0 in the HCC and has already clinched a share of the conference championship, as no other team has fewer than two losses.
