Tigers take down two Illinois teams

The Fishers girls basketball team won two games against Illinois teams last weekend at the Grow the Game Shootout, which took place in the Chicago area.

The Tigers played Stevenson last Friday at New Trier and won easily, 66-42. Fishers outscored Stevenson in each quarter, leading 19-6 after one and 32-16 at halftime. Riley Schellhammer and Nevaeh Dickman both scored nine points in the first half.

Schellhammer made four 3-pointers in the third quarter, helping the Tigers to a 54-34 lead by the end of the period. She finished with six triples and 23 points. Dickman added another nine points in the third and had 20 for the game.

Fishers beat Arlington Hersey 51-41 in its second game last Saturday at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago. Dickman again scored 20 points, scoring in each quarter and going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Allison Scheu scored eight points and Schellhammer also was 6-of-6 from the line. As a team the Tigers were 22-of-23 in free-throw shooting.

Fishers is 11-6 and is off until Jan. 17 when it plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls-boys doubleheader at Brownsburg.
