Fishers got back in the winner’s circle on Friday, as the Tigers defeated Avon 35-25 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at the Fishers’ TCU Field.
The Tigers scored first, as Lucas Minns carried the ball into the end zone from 18 yards out. The Orioles could only answer with a field goal, so Fishers led 7-3 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Tigers extended their lead to 21-3. Carson Dunn helped out with a 42-yard rushing touchdown, then Minns threw a scoring pass to Jeffrey Simmons later in the period. Avon scored on a passing touchdown seconds before halftime, but Fishers held a 21-10 lead at the break.
The Tigers scored two more touchdowns in the second half. Dunn zoomed into the end zone from 30 yards in the third quarter, then Minns connected with Simmons for a seven-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Minns had an efficient night, going 11-for-18 on 133 yards. Simmons was the top receiver with six catches totaling 100 yards. Dunn finished with 127 yards on the rushing. Jack Alvarez led the defense with eight tackles, while Dominic Oliverio and Brady Wolf both made two sacks. Wolf made 2.5 tackles for a loss, with Oliverio and Caleb Myers both getting two.
The Tigers are 2-2 in HCC play and 4-2 overall. Fishers continues its homestand next week by hosting Franklin Central.
