The Fishers girls basketball team got off to a good start, and that helped send the Tigers to a 58-44 Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over Avon Friday at the Tiger Den.
Fishers led 14-5 after the first quarter. Nevaeh Dickman was dominant during that period, scoring nine points, while Allison Scheu added the other five points. In the second quarter, it was Riley Schellhammer’s turn: the freshman drained three 3-pointers, helping the Tigers take a 34-21 halftime lead. Alanna Anthony scored five points.
Dickman got going again in the third quarter with another nine points, which allowed Fishers to extend its lead to 52-32. Schellhammer provided another six points in that period.
Dickman scored another four points in the fourth, giving her a game-high total of 24 points. Schellhammer added 17 points, including three 3-pointers.
The Tigers evened their HCC record at 3-3 with the win and improved to 13-7 overall. Fishers hosts Lawrence North on Tuesday.
