The Fishers softball team spent the weekend in Evansville, where the Tigers played three games.
On Friday, Fishers lost to Evansville North 3-2 in a game that the Huskies won on the last play. The Tigers had five hits for the game; Hannah Trueblood and Taylor Duplessis each got two hits, with Nyah Duplessis getting one. Kate Murray threw three and two-thirds innings, tossing three strikeouts. Nyah Duplessis had five defensive plays for Fishers.
The Tigers came back Saturday morning and beat host Gibson Southern 6-5 in a morning game. Trueblood got Fishers on the board right away, cracking a three-run home run. Karyn Trice was 3-for-3 at the plate and Kaylee Kardash had multiple hits as well. Murray got the win, striking out eight in four and two-thirds innings. Kamara Walker threw the other two and a third innings in relief.
In another game at Gibson Southern, the Tigers fell to Castle 10-4. Fishers trailed 10-1 in the bottom of the sixth before singles by Trueblood and Sydney Abel scored three runs. The Tigers had nine hits, including a 3-for-4 effort from Sophie Schoch, who hit her first high school home run. Abby Gavin had multiple hits, while Nyah Duplessis and Emma Venus both had one hit.
Fishers is back in action on April 12 when it hosts Noblesville.
