Fishers opened its season Saturday by winning two close games at its own Fishers Classic.
In their first game, the Tigers came from behind at the end to beat Center Grove 47-46. Fishers trailed by one, but forced a turnover late in the game. Hailey Smith was fouled with 0.2 seconds left, and hit both free throws to give the Tigers the win.
Fishers jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the start of the game before the Trojans came back to lead 15-11 by the end of the first quarter.
“The game was back and forth right up until the end,” said Fishers coach Lauren Votaw.
Olivia Smith and Karina Scott both scored 13 points for the Tigers. Smith collected seven rebounds and made three steals, while Scott pulled five rebounds. Hailey Smith had 10 rebounds, along with seven points and three steals.
Fishers made it a sweep by beating Ben Davis 58-52 in its second game. The Tigers led 12-8 in the first quarter and were up 31-28 at halftime; Scott drained two 3-pointers in the second period. Fishers pulled away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Giants 17-14.
Olivia Smith led the Tigers with 15 points, followed by Scott with 12 and Hailey Smith with 11.
Fishers is 2-0 and hosts Anderson on Wednesday.
