Huskies’ Cox, Millers’ Mutter also qualify for state meet
Fishers had a dominating 1-2 punch at Tuesday’s Fort Wayne South Side diving regional.
The Tigers swept the top two positions at the regional, also qualifying for Saturday’s state finals. Fishers’ Sebastian Otero was the winner, scoring 529.10 points, while his teammate Will Jansen took second place by scoring 524.60 points.
The top eight divers at the regional qualify for state. Hamilton County had two other divers earn a spot at the big meet: Hamilton Heights’ Nathan Cox finished in fourth with 472.80 points and Noblesville’s Parker Mutter placed eighth, totaling 382.05 points.
Another Noblesville diver, Aiden Kless, finished 13th with 239.15 points.
There are four diving regionals across the state, so 32 divers will compete at the state meet, which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the IU Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis. All divers will have five first-round dives, with the top 20 advancing to the semi-finals to make three more dives. After the semi-finals, the top 16 divers will perform three more dives that afternoon in the finals.
